Crochet Sunshine Cell Phone Sling Cover Free Pattern for a female - Knot My Designs

Sunshine CellPhone Sling Cover

I miss my stay in the US, especially, Irvine, California. It is a beautiful place and close to the beaches. I also miss craft stores like Joann or Michaels. It was fun exploring the store, finding out new items, looking for sale or clearances, deciding the best use of coupons.

Unfortunately in India, I do not get cotton yarn for making summer projects. This Sunshine cellphone cover is made out of my left over cotton yarn that I got from the US.

I already had a mobile cover that I carry around during my everyday walk. You can get the pattern here. Due to everyday use, I needed one more which I could take occasionally during shopping or an outing.

Whenever we plan for a PVR night, we book the tickets in advance. So, I do not need anything else to carry except my mobile and this new Sunshine Cellphone Sling Cover serves the purpose! It also makes for a great gift.

Process:

This mobile pouch is similar to Contemporary Triangles Cell Phone Wristlet Pouch. The instructions progress from bottom to top. The last row includes insertion of side loops for a sling.

The stitches used in the pattern are Single Crochet (SC), Chain stitch (CH), Slip Stitch (SLST). The pattern is made in rounds.

Pattern:-

POUCH:-

R1: CH 16+1. Chain has 3 loops – front, back, bottom. Take the front and SC across from 2nd loop on the CH. Move towards the other side of the chain. Take the top front loop (leaving the bottom loop behind) and SC across till you reach the starting of the chain. Total 30 SC.

R2: Do not join the 1st SC with SLST. Place a stitch marker and join with 2SC on 1st SC. Sc on every SC before the last SC on that side. 2SC on the last SC on that side and move to the next side. Start with 2sc on 1st SC, SC across before the last SC on the side. 2SC on the last SC. Total 34 SC.

R3: Do not join with SLST. move your stitch marker to new row. SC on every SC in round.

Repeat R3 till you get the desired length. Keep shifting your marker to next row to get an idea of the beginning of the row.

To make the side loop, place the marker to mark the new row. SC 15 times till you reach the corner, CH 2, skip the next 2 SC (on the corner round edge side), SC 15 times on other side of the round, CH 2, skip the next 2 SC; Join with SLST to the 1st SC at the beginning. Cut the yarn and sew the tail.

SLING:-

CH 201+. I chained 200 because it was sufficient length to hang my pouch.
R1: SLST on front side of the 2nd chain loop. SLST across 200 times. Turn the work to other side loosely SLST on 1st loop. SLST across 200 times. Join at the beginning of the row with SLST . Tie and cut the yarn. Sew the yarn tail.

I brought these swivel hooks online.

BUTTON LOOP:-

Leave 3-4 from the top and locate the centre SC and sew the button. For the loop, it should be exactly sewn on the opposite side. To get the length of the loop, Chain 20+, Roughly tie your loop with a pin and test it out. Increase or decrease the chain count to get the optimal loop length. Add 2 more chain loops and tighten the last chains on both sides. Turn the mobile pouch inside out and sew the loop placing in the centre of the other side of the pouch. Using a crochet hook, pull out your button loop and turn the pouch inside out again.

Sew the ends with the Swivel hook. Make sure the sling is straight when you sew both ends. Clasp the hook on to the side loop of the mobile cover.

Caution Section:-

  1. The cotton yarn elasticity will define the initial count for your mobile pouch.
  2. After wash, cotton tends to shrink so try to add a couple of extra chains to avoid the tightness while you use your cover.
  3. You can make a loose mobile cover to keep your card, or a couple of bucks while use. The button loop should avoid any fallout.
  4. The sling length can be increased by a few chains as the wash will shrink it.
  5. Try loose SLST across when working on the sling. To increase the stretchiness of the sling.
