Crochet Fall/Winter Seasoned Men's Winter Wavy Scarf Free Pattern - Knot My Designs

Men’s Wavy Scarf

Waves are known to transfer energy from one source to another. In design, we concentrate on the form and shape that a wave creates rather than capturing the vibration or calculating the energy transfer. We capture and fabricate different wave patterns, and try to implement them while innovating new designs.

As already mentioned in Men’s Mesh Scarf, the challenge to create a handsome accessory for the elder age group is to choose the right colour and pattern. I adopted the identical flow of the wave pattern into my product because the flow defines grace as well as sturdiness.

This scarf could be used with Men’s Ash-Lead Beanie to form a beanie-scarf set for men.

Process:

Working vertically, the scarf is worked on back loops throughout. The length of the scarf is 6ft i.e. 72″. The width is 8-10″ considering the standard male scarf dimensions. The basic crochet stitches are used here. Single Crochet (SC), Half-Double Crochet (HDC), Double Crochet (DC), Treble Crochet (TC).

I decided to settle on Moogly’s – Summer Wave Placemats and Coasters to create the wavy scarf. The site provides a detailed step by step procedure. To create this lengthy scarf, you need 15 +1 chain counts to create a wave.

I have multiplied 15×20 +1 i.e. 301 chains to have 70+” length of the scarf.

Remember the thickness of the yarn, the selected crochet hook and your style ( loose stitch, medium tight stitch, tight stitch) specifies the length of the product.

For those who are finding it difficult to access the link, please do refer the instructions below.

R1: 301 chains;

R2: SC across each stitch till the end; turn. Total 300 SC.

R3: SC from the 2nd chain, SC, 2 HDC, 2 DC, 3 TC, 2 DC, 2 HDC, 2 SC; repeat till the end of the row and turn. Total 300 counts.

R4: Repeat R2. Total 300 SC.

Remember that from Row 5 to every odd-numbered row, work in Back Loop only.

R5: Ch 4,  [Working on Back loops only] TC, 2 DC, 2 HDC, 3 SC, 2 HDC, 2 DC, 2 TC; repeat to the last stitch of the row. TC on both loops of the last stitch and turn. Total 300 counts.

R6: Repeat R2. Total 300 SC.

R7- R15: Repeat R3-R6. Finish off.

Caution Section:-

  • The size and length are depended on the thickness and the texture of the yarn.
  • Also, your crocheting technique will bring a difference in the final outcome. Do not be disappointed, make it your own and flaunt your product.
  • In the pattern, I have added SC in the beginning and in the end as the edges of the scarf. You can skip the R2 and start from R3. Choose the different edging styles suggested in the below Optional Alterations section.

Product Specifications:

Defining Dimensions:-

  • Length: 70+”
  • Width: 8-10″.

Optional Alterations:-

  • If you are using this as a female scarf then-
  • Add a line of tassels to the ends of both sides along the width. 4 Tassels at the corners will also work. You can reduce the size of the scarf as tassels will add another 10″.
  • Attach pom-poms to each of the corners.
  • The tassels or pompoms colour should be of the base colour or any contrast colour. Shades of white, golden, silver, brown, creme, mustard will add the beauty.
  • Pom-poms and tassels can be of wool, faux fur, ribbons, plastic, resin etc. Link to make pom-pom and tassels.
  • The long length edging, you can have a Crab Stitch, Single Crochet, Slip Stitch. I have already added SC in the beginning and in the end.

Remember: do not over accessorize it. This hides the beauty of the pattern itself. Believe in elegance simplicity!!
