We usually come across analysis paralysis, we constantly keep thinking. Why is this happening to me? Where am I going wrong? The advent of social media has given us entry into people’s lives, providing us more information about them. Unfortunately, the more we look into other’s lives, the more we get caught in the quagmire of haves and have-nots. We go deeper into this black hole of our psyche and question our existence.
Busy and muddled within this web of connections and friends and acquaintances, we never question the mysteries of nature. We accept it wholeheartedly and stay mesmerized by the beauty it presents. I attempted to escape from the conundrum of my existence by loving everything around me.
Mother Earth is the only planet in this galaxy containing life. The acceptance of every living species’ accommodation is breathtaking. She never judges anyone seeking shelter
One such species is the Hickory tree. It is found in India (Assam State), China, USA, Canada and Mexico.
Every part is valuable. Hickory nuts are highly nutritional food plant for the variety of moth species. The wood is hard and shock resistance, which makes it useful as tools, handles, sticks, carts, paddles etc.
What attracted me about this tree was the overall formation. When you view it from a distance, you notice small round disorderly leaves. That look is mimicked in this beanie. I focused on creating the chaotic loops which will fall on your forehead.

Since I am starting with knitting, I am trying out simple patterns and creating different beanies. These beanies will look modern despite just following the basic steps of Knitting. I am attempting to create contemporary patterns that will go forever.
The process is bottom to top approach. The knitting stitch used in this pattern is purl stitch in flat. To get the slouchy effect the height of the beanie is increased. It is stitched sideways and at the top.
I have learnt the basics of knitting from Knitting Help – Amy Finley
Starting with a long tail cast-on stitch of 130 counts.
R2: Purl stitches around on every stitch. Turn. Total 130 Purl
Repeat R2 till you get the required height.
End with Bind off using a knit stitch.

Caution Section:-
- The yarn and the knitting needle should be recommended as the bigger size needle will create gaps.
- If you are planning to use the bigger knitting needle then you can decrease the count stitch. This will make the beanie stretchable but there might be chances of having loose stitches.
- long tail cast on I measure as 3:1 ratio. for 30 counts, my tail size is from the tip of middle finger to elbow.
- Here I have picked up 4 times finger to elbow length to get 130 stitches. Rest of the yarn at the base I have used for sewing the side using Invisible Stitch join.

Optional Alterations:-
- You can increase the base diameter to give a more slouchy feel. Also, increase the height of the beanie.
- You can add pom-pom matching the colour with the edging or the base colour. There are different ways to create pom-pom.
- You can attach flowers, beads or a bow made of crochet, plastic, suede leather etc to give cuteness to the hat.
- You can put fur edging or tassels to give a different touch.
Remember: do not over accessorize it. This takes away the beauty of the pattern itself. Believe in elegant simplicity!!

Style Aisle:
- You can choose the yarn colour that matches with your favourite winter wear. Try out the Hat-Scarf combo, Beanie_cowl combo of the same pattern.
- Another way styling yourself is by picking the contrast colours matching with your jacket.
- The dark yarn colour might make you sceptic but do not feel that way.
- This beanie will pop with light Shades of jackets or trench coats or overalls. Do not try out with black. It will make the whole outfit muddled up in dark.
- This dark beanie will brighten your face when paired with light coloured jackets like beige or white or denim. Beige will reflect on face and beanie.
- For a child, you can pick all bright shades of red, blue, green sweaters or jackets.
- Choose the wool colour based on the palette in the wardrobe. Experiment and enjoy the beautiful colours.

- Stitch Markers: My stitch markers are the mini safety pins we get from clothing tags.
- Note: you can play around with different branded yarns as far as they give the synchronous flow of the pattern using a constant crochet hook.
- You can either go for the yarns with the same recommended crochet hook OR decide the yarn and change the crochet hooks along with the tightness on the crochet stitches as you proceed with the pattern.
- You can change the pattern to get a continuous flow.
