Crochet Texture Weave NewBorn Beanie Free Pattern - Knot My Designs

Texture Weave NewBorn Beanie

Sometimes I fell in love with the same style so much that I try to replicate it in every other or upcoming product too. Have you felt this? You discover something so appealing that you select the yarn that suits the pattern, not the opposite.

By looking at this beanie, you can guess where I am heading. When I discovered a new pattern for the male adult beanie, Texture Weave Adult Beanie, I was going crazy and started making different coloured beanies for the different age group.

Here, I am presenting another beanie for newborns using the same pattern but with a slight modification. I have added a brim to pop the yellow colour yarn. The contrast colour selection too depends. There are no matching colours, contrast colour synchronicity involved when I went for blue. It was just a gamble and I am happy the way it turned out.

This new awareness gave me an idea to make few more beanies for  using different colour combinations. I hope you are ready to try out this pattern in your choice of colours.

Process:

The pattern is very easy to follow if you are aware of Front Post Double Crochet(FPDC), Double Crochet(DC) and Single Crochet(SC) stitches. It is using the top-bottom approach to form the body and brim of the beanie.

Body:-

To make the base and body of the beanie, I have followed the previous pattern, Texture Weave Adult Beanie. The link will provide you with the detailed row by row instructions to make the beanie. Starting with DC and working on FPDC and DC alternatively in each row.

Brim:-

The brim consists of 6 rows of SC around to get a 2″ width.

Caution Section:-

  • The selection of the yarn is important. The thickness and elasticity of the yarn and the chosen crochet hook determines the design.
  • Also, your technique impacts the smoothness or finished look. Everyone has different techniques ranging from tight stitching style to medium to loose stitching styles.
  • In case, you are unable to get the required chosen coloured yarn of same thickness, you can change the crochet hook and your technique as you go around, to get the seamless look.
  • Since the number of rows alters due to different yarn sizes and crochet hooks, it is best to total up the number of rows required to make 1″. Based on this calculation, the position of the white band can be set.

Product Specifications:

Defining Dimensions:-

  • Height: 6″
  • Circumference: 14″-15″

The sizes can be altered based on the count of the stitches for the rows.

Optional Alterations:-

  • You can increase the base diameter to give a more slouchy feel. Also, increase the height of the beanie.
  • You can add pom-pom matching the colour with the edging or the base colour. There are different ways to create pom-pom.
  • You can attach flowers, beads or a bow made of crochet, plastic, suede leather etc to give cuteness to the hat.
  • You can put fur edging or tassels to give a different touch.

Remember: do not over accessorise it. This takes away the beauty of the pattern itself. Believe in elegant simplicity!!
