I too love the bag! The idea of the cotton cord and K size hook is brilliant. The single crochet stitch will give you enough strength. You can try out different hooks to see which gives you the closed stitch style. Do share your work!

And I love using cotton yarn. I was thinking this might be a good one for some of the size 18 crochet cord that I have. If I used double strand throughout and size k hook, what do you think. For durability and strength, I just need to be sure to crochet my ends in as I go, and weave my last tails really well.
