Winter/Fall Seasoned Crochet Simple Mom Daughter Beanie Free Pattern - Knot My Designs

Simple Mom-Daughter Beanie

Happy Mother’s Day!!!

Every relationship is celebrated and cherished specifically to remind us about the importance they hold in our lives.

With the busy lifestyle and with the rush to make more money to sustain a living, we sometimes take these relationships for granted. We forget to express love and care.

Wishing explicitly, saying “I Love You, Mom”, matters more than buying gifts or taking on tours. So, specific weekends are devoted to spending time with your family showering all our love and gratitude.

For me, I do not believe in celebrating days like Woman’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Sibling’s Day, Valentine’s Day etc. I don’t need a special day to show my love to my family or my loved ones. The special privileges on Woman’s Day, don’t excite me either, rather they make me realise that I am not equal to men and therefore the special care and attention.

Keeping these personal thoughts aside, I do wish every Mom a Happy Mother’s Day and hope y’all have a great weekend ahead.

With Mother’s Day celebration knocking at the door, get your hooks ready and make this simple beanie combo. The simplicity of the design will be the last-minute gift you can make for your mom.

The value of handmade gifts is much more powerful than any factory-made gadget or device. It shows that we have not only invested money but love and time to make something for you, MOM!

Process:

The pattern is very simple. The top-bottom approach uses Single Crochet stitch (SC) around in every row. The only difference between the mom and daughter beanies are adjusting the diameters and the height of the beanie. That is why the pattern name is Simple Mom-Daughter Beanie.

For mom, you can increase to 7″-7.5″ diameter and 6″-6.5″ for the daughter.  For the base, I started with SC 10 and increased by 10 at every row till I get the desired diameter. Once that is achieved, I continued the total count from the last row for 5″-6″. This increases the height to 7″ for daughter and 7.5″ for mom.

For brim, I added 4 rows of taupe colour continuing the same count and single crochet around. This increased the overall height of the beanie to 1″ more respectively.

Caution Section:-

  1. When working on beanies or hat from top to bottom, the crown sizes matters based on the diameters.
  2. When you start increasing every row evenly, the work should lay flat without any grooves or bumps. You should measure the diameter of the circle created not around the circle.
  3. For a child (3-10), the diameter of the crown should be 6″-6.5″. For an adult female, the diameter is 7″- 7.5″.
  4. Single crochet gives a tighter snug. thus depending on the elasticity of the yarn you can use the recommended hook or increase the hook size. The beanie should be stretchable when made.
