This Thanksgiving, Knot My Designs spreads love and smiles in a style.
Just recently I stumbled upon a quote from Charles R. Swindoll, an author, and a preacher. He said, “Life is 10 percent what happens to us and rest 90 percent how we react to it.” Quite a succinct but deep thought. It is easy to be happy during good times, but the real test comes during tough times. For many people heart breaks shake up their life, but what about Cancer. Something like this could peel off life from a living soul. If nothing then, these carcinogenic elements breeding inside, kill the spirit. They come without invitation and wean away smiles.
As a member of Volunteer Match Organization, I keep receiving communications for volunteering opportunities. And found a note about Hat Box Foundation, a charity for helping cancer patients, looking for crochet hats for women. Started in 2007, Hat Box has been providing Crochet beanies for cancer patients of all ages and sexes. What started as a small gift for a family friend fighting this disease around nine years ago, has grown its reach to 120 cancer treatment centers.
I knew as a seasoned crocheter, this was the best opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving with the foundation. Afterall amongst all, these brave-hearted cancer patients were actually following the real definition of Swindoll said above, giving a 100 percent to their life. And the foundation was bringing back smiles to everyone’s face; lighting up their faces and their hearts. I sat down with my stash and started crocheting the beanies. I finally had 7 different patterns of stylish beanies ready for the Hat Box Foundation as my gratitude towards their noble cause.
The One With Happy Thanksgiving!
