White Snow Slippers/Socks

“Happy Feet”,”The Chronicles of Narnia”, “Frozen”; pick any movie and you will realize the beauty of snow in these movies. Snowflakes, snow crystals, graupel, ice pellets etc whichever is the form of the frozen crystallized water; they are stupendous. The magnificent glaciers, the majestic view carries us away.

As spectacular or glorious as it looks; snowfall gets tough for the survival when this freezing weather continues for months. You are stuck in your own house doing nothing and waiting for skies to get clearer.

But we humans are a creative bunch, who don’t just stay hibernated in our shelter but find ways to enjoy the weather like making snow angels and snowman, skiing, sledging, making footprints, having a snowball fight, building a snow fort etc.

It is a good testimony to show that humans can face any challenge that comes in their way and live fully.

While I enjoyed playing out in the snow, making snowballs, it inspired me to make a white coloured Slippers/Socks for home.

Process:

The pattern is simple. I started with single crochet(SC) as Roller Slippers. Instead of continuing the process, I switched to Double crochet(DC) stitch for completing with mid to heel.

The pattern contains 3 parts:

  1. Foot
  2. Heel
  3. Leg

Foot:-

R1: Starting with a magic circle, Ch 1, Single Crochet (SC) 6 times, join at the beginning with a Slip Stitch (SL ST). Total 6 SC.
R2: Ch 1, 2 SC in SC, join at the beginning with SL ST. Total 12 SC.

R3: Ch 1, *2 SC in SC, SC in SC*; repeat *-* join at the beginning with SL ST. Total 18 SC.

R4 – R6: Ch1, 1 SC in each SC. Total 18 SC.

R7: Ch 1, *2 SC in SC, SC in 2 SC*; repeat *-* join at the beginning with SL ST. Total 24 SC.

R8: Ch1, 1 SC in each SC. Total 24 SC.

Repeat R8 until you gain 5.5″. Do not cut the yarn. Proceed towards heel section.

Heel:-

R1: Ch1, 1 DC in each SC.Do not join to the beginning but turn. Total 24 DC.

R2: Ch1, 1 DC in each DC, turn. Total 24 DC.

Repeat R2 until you have achieved 11″.

Lay flat. One side will be the foot. Join the other side together at the back with SC. Cut and sew the stranding yarn. Total 12 SC.

Leg:-

For the final edging, I did 1 row of SC and 1 row of DC with white yarn. Last 1 row of SC with pink- purple mixed yarn.

Decorations:-

I added a different colour to give a pop. Last 1 row of SC with pink- purple mixed yarn. Created 2 Simple Flowers from Little Abbee Patterns.

Winter/Fall Seasoned Crochet Skinny Boots Slippers/Socks Free Pattern for an adult woman - kNot mY deSigns

Skinny Boots Slippers/Socks

A pair of Boots, known as Fashion Boots or go-go boots, is a necessary winter footwear in the modern world, apart from being a fashion item. Ranging from ankle to thigh in length, and used as casual, formal, or business footwears, they come in large varieties.

There has been ups and downs in the journey of a working boot converting into a fashion boot. In 1960’s final, they became a style statement and interpreted “as an antidote to the femininity”.

Today, there are ankle boots, calf-length boots, knee boots, over-the-knee boots. They are made of fur, leather, rubber and suede. Over a period of time, there has been up gradation in the creation of boots from rising hemlines to zip-fastened to lace-up styles to metal accents. In today’s fashion world, people have a great sense of appreciation in carrying vintage style or latest trends. The old-fashioned boots, platform-soled boots, and even thigh-length PVC boots are popular among the female of all age groups.

Every woman, every teenager does own a pair of boots now. Apart from the suede/leather boots in my wardrobe, I added one more to the collection of my footwear. A pair of crocheted boots that I am wearing every day in my home during winter. With a layer of clear Silicone sealant in the base, I can easily walk on carpeted, tiled or wooden floors.

Crochet Brown Homie Slippers Free Pattern for an adult woman with non slippery grip - Knot My Designs

Brown Homie Slippers

We prefer to wear flip-flops when we go to the bathroom or out for a stroll on the beach, when we dress in casual or shop at the market or when we walk on the tile or wooden floors without any carpet. So, I can say that we enjoy flip-flops in summer only.

But the reality is unless you have a carpeted floor all across in your house, you tend to wear flip-flop all the time. What should be another useful product that we can wear at home all the time without worrying about hard and cold floors? A pair of socks and slippers are the perfect solution. But what if you can get a home slippers that will keep your feet warm in winter days, allowing you to walk around the house without a pair of socks or a pair of slippers? HOMIE SLIPPERS!!!

Process:

With crochet, we can make a different kind of slippers boots, ballet, slip flops, moccasins, loafers etc. I chose ballet as a customer was looking for easy-to-wear slippers. Winter / Fall Crochet Red Roller Slippers Free Pattern for an adult woman - kNot mY deSigns

Red Roller Slippers

In the winter time, all you need is a pair of woollen socks/slippers that will keep the feet warm. These woollen socks are easy to clean and maintain. Also, they don’t make any noise while you are walking on the floor, even on a wooden floor. Additionally, the rubber coating glued to the base of the slippers provides a firm grip so that you don’t slip; making it a great winter wear.

Process:

To crochet sock, I followed the pattern from Drop Design – Roller Slippers. While I stayed within the instruction as given in the blog and did not want to experiment, but later I had to modify it since I was running out of the yarn.

I looked into my Stash bag and could see a sackful of red wool and decided to use them. Well, this push to empty and replenish my stash bag helps me experiment with different items and colours using the left over colours.

In order to avoid slippage while walking on hardwood floors or tiles, I have sprayed a coat of rubber paint. It is available at any home improvement store or Walmart.
